Question: When you get to heaven, will you recognize friends and relatives who are in heaven? Will you be able to communicate with them?

Answer: There seems to be every indication in Scripture that we will be able to to just that. The main support for this idea comes from Jesus. After Jesus was resurrected from the dead, He appeared to His disciples and more than 500 people, and they recognized him and talked with Him (see 1 Corinthians 15:3-8).

The apostle Paul tells us that Jesus is the “firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20). What that means is that his resurrection is a foretaste of what we can expect. We have hope in the resurrection and heaven because Jesus went before us and He is now preparing a place for us (John 14:1-4).
