Question: How will we relate to our loved ones in heaven? Will we know them? And what about marriages? If you’ve been married on earth, what happens in heaven?

Answer: Jesus was asked a similar question about marriage and heaven (see Matthew 22:23-28). His reply was this: “For when the dead rise, they won’t be married. They will be like the angels in heaven.”

While we don’t know details about how we are going to relate to our loved ones in heaven, it seems clear that we will recognize them and be able to interact with them. We get this from Jesus and His resurrected body. The disciples knew Him and talked with Him.

There are so many things about heaven that we don’t know. However, this much we can be sure of:

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
